“It was a good
result for me and the team considering I lost most of the time this morning due
to a
misfire. We
worked on set-up during qualifying and did our best, but were not able to get
as much out
of the car as
we hoped as the consistent lap times indicate. We expected a little bit more
but from my
point of view
after what happened this morning, I am happy with this position. Given our
strong
performance
yesterday, I believe we are in good shape for tomorrow’s race.”

brazilian gp. saturday practice. Not a goo d session for Jarno, as he lost most of his running time with engine problems. He
only managed one run in the whole of the two sessions and afterwards the Jordan
mechanics had to change the engine, due to the misfire. HHF’s car also needed a new
engine after the original one failed at the end of the second session. Jarno’s time was 11th
fastest with 1: 15.163 and HHF’s 6th with 1:14.837.
Jarno:
“'I only had one run this morning. The car felt good although the track was not that quick early on. It was obviously going to improve and I wanted to see how everything would develop. There was a problem with the engine during the first session but changes to various components did not help. As soon as I went out in the second session, the misfire was still there. There was no alternative but to come into the pits so that the team could start an engine change. With so little running this morning, it's going to be difficult. I will try to do the best I can.'

practice. In the first session Jarno was 10th quickest with 1:18.291, HHF was 12th with
1:18.410. M. Schumacher was fastest with 1:16.832. In the second session, Jarno improved to 2nd quickest
with 1:16.224, ahead of M. Schumacher’s 1:16.598. DC was fastest with 1:15.220. HHF had car problems and was 8th
with 1:17.072.
Jarno:
“It was a positive session
for me. I lost about half an hour of running while we tried different brakes
but, otherwise, we spent the day working on the set-up and making progress. The
car is competitive again and we don't seem to be far away in lap times from
everyone else. So, I'm confident for tomorrow. The track has been resurfaced in
places and they have done a pretty good job, even if it's still a bit bumpy
here and there.”

charity football match. Today Jarno played football in the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro. (Wow!)
As a member of the drivers’ football team , he took part in the match for the “Hope
for Children” charity, which aids homeless children living in the streets of
Brazil. Other drivers taking part were Michael
Schumacher, Luciano Burti and Giancarlo Fisichella.
Among the footballers taking part were Zico,
Bebeto, Junior and Ronaldo, in his first public
game, albeit a friendly, since his second knee operation last year. Ronaldo’s “red” team, including Michael, beat the “blue” team
10—9, Ronaldo scoring 5 and MS one. The match took place in the midday sun for one hour,
apparently mostly at pedestrian pace and no tackling!

Trulli:
“Interlagos is a very nice circuit, but it is technical and tough and very twisty. I always like driving in Brazil as the circuit suits my driving style and I have always been strong there, so I hope for more good results . Last year we scored our first points here so I would like a repeat perfomance.”

from HHF today
using chassis 05 . In the morning HHF carried out brake and suspension evaluation and achieved the
third fastest time of 1: 20.963, behind M.
Schumacher and Panis. After an engine
change in the lunch break, Jarno completed two long runs for tyre evaluation purposes and finished
7th quickest with a time of 1:21.729. Nine teams are present for the

race. Jarno made a good start, running
third for the first few laps behind the two Ferraris. When Schumacher and Barrichello slid off the
track in follow-my-leader style, Jarno led the race for one lap.
Then heavy rain flooded the track . Jarno spun off but recovered to pit for wet tyres. The safety car was
deployed for several laps. Jarno ran fifth for a while until being overtaken by the Ferraris on
Lap 12, as they powered their way back up the field. After two more pit stops,
one for dry tyres, Jarno was in eighth place for the rest of the race. HHF, who was the first of the Jordans to change to wet
tyres at the beginning of the race, and then rejoined the race ahead of Jarno, stayed ahead to the end and finished in 4th place,
after a gamble by the team that his fuel would last….he made it to the start of
the pit lane just past the finish line!

Jarno said: 'I had a good start and made it up to third at the first corner. The car was golng well and I kept
pushing on. In
the second lap, both the Ferrari's left the track and I was leading for 1 lap but unfortunately I spun in the wet at the end of the
straight. I was
able to regaln control though and make it
back to the pits where I changed to wet
tyres.
Having looked at the car, we know that the spin caused
some damage
to
the barge boards and front wing which made the car’s handling quite difficult.
However, Heinz has scored three
points
which is very good for the team, and I am happy to have
finished the
race although frustrated not to have scored points'.

"I have mixed feelings about qualifying. On one hand I am very happy
because
I qualified 5th in a
very competitive session, but on the other hand I am disappointed that I lost the possibility to be
higher up the grid after not being able to improve the car during the morning practice session when
I had an electrical problem and lost time. For qualifying I had exactly the same car set-up as
yesterday. I was really fighting and the car was well balanced, but on a few corners I couldn't push
as much as I wanted. Again though, we proved that we are very close to the top teams. It was very
hot and humid, and it can be hard to breathe as there's not
much air in the cockpit but I am fit.
When you drive it's okay, but back in the garage while you're sitting there
is heat coming
from
everywhere".

could only manage 12th

malaysian gp. friday practice. Jarno had an extremely good two practice
sessions, finishing third quickest in the first one, behind the two Ferrari’s
when Barrichello topped the times. Jarno’s
time was 1:40.135, against Ruben’s 1:39.502. But in the
second session, Jarno was quickest himself, and topped the times with 1:38.846. M. Schumacher was second and Barrichello third. Team mate HHF
was 6th in the first session and 7th in the second.
Jarno said:
"Today I had a good day. It was
my first totally trouble free session in a long time and I just hope that I have
a similar day tomorrow and not a repeat of Melbourne. I am confident that every
time I step in the car I can push to one hundred per cent. I am also satisfied
because we don't appear to be too far from McLaren
and Ferrari,
which is good progress. It's good news to see that our car is reacting much
better on this track this year, as last year we weren't so competitive here. It
seems we have taken the right direction in the development of the car's
performance and I'm happy for the team and myself. But as always, it's only
Friday and, as I said, let's just hope for the same trouble-free running for
the rest of the weekend."

After the Australian Grand Prix, Jarno spent a day at home in Monaco before flying to the Maldives last Wednesday
where he trained with Italy's World Champion skier, Alberto Tomba. Both
Jordan drivers have planned early arrivals in Malaysia to acclimatise.
JARNO TRULLI
on the
Malaysian
Grand Prix:
"I enjoy racing at Sepang as it’s a
challenging circuit for many reasons. It is a flowing track, but the extreme
heat makes driving there very physically exhausting. I have spent a few days training
in the Maldives since I returned from Australia though, so feel in good shape for Malaysia. I also
think it will be an interesting race as this circuit is one that can help us to
really understand the true potential of the EJ11 ."

'I made a very good start moving across to the right whilst
the other cars moved to the left, and was moving
up positions on the straight before Barrichello closed me into the wall, forcing me to lift off the throttle. From the first lap there was something not quite right
with the engine, and
it got more and more difficult each lap until I had to retire on
Lap 38. It's disappointing because I was having a good race in fifth position, and even with this problem I was still holding off Panis and making ground on Coulthard. The positive thing from this race is that I had a good car set-up
as we were able to understand and resolve the problems I experienced during qualifying.”
Eddie Jordan, Chief Executive
'This result is a bit
disappointing after
the qualifying positions we had. The collision
at the corner
between Heinz and Rubens hindered Heinz from having a really strong finish, but he did well to
drive back to the points. The data from Jarno's car shows there was an
engine
misfire
resulting in
a loss of power, but he was driving a super race and through no fault of his own was unable to finish. The good thing about this weekend is that the car has really
been
on the
pace and performed well".
After touching wheels with Coulthard at the start and
being pushed into a spin by Barrichello on Lap 3, HHF fought his way back up the
field despite suffering with understeer as a result of the collisions. He
finished 6th, winning himself and the team, a championship
point. When Panis was penalised for
overtaking under the safety car, HHF was promoted to 5th and two points.

australian gp . qualifying. In qualifying for the
Australian GP, there were mixed fortunes for the Jordan team. After being 3rd
at one time, HHF will start 4th , and after being 5th for a
short time, Jarno will start 7th on the grid. Jarno immediately went into a
lengthy debrief with his engineer Gabriele
Delli Colli in a bid to discover why the
handling of his car had not
been as good as during the morning, when he was fifth fastest, marginally
slower than Frentzen.
'We are trying to understand what happened,' said Trulli. 'We were slow
compared to this morning, the car was behaving differently during qualifying
and we have to find out why that was. Obviously, I am disappointed with my
time.'

In the second session, David Coulthard came out on top, with

1:32.347. Jarno likes to work up to these things and did a great job in the
second session. Barrichello kept top spot with 1:28.965, but Jarno was second quickest
with 1:29.267, just ahead of Michael Schumacher, who managed 1:29.284 before contriving to roll his Ferrari twice
after taking a corner too fast. Burti
had a big crash and several other
