Bridgestone Motorsport Charity Appeal
30th
November 2001: Bridgestone Motorsport have organised a signed T-shirt to be
auctioned in aid of a charity appeal run by traffic officers from Thames Valley
Police. The Bridgestone T-shirt has been signed by the 12 Bridgestone drivers
from 2001 season (Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Mika Hakkinen, David
Coulthard, Jarno Trulli, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Jacques Villeneuve, Olivier
Panis, Nick Heidfeld, Kimi Raikkonen, Jos Verstappen, and Enrique Bernoldi) and
will be auctioned in aid of Taplow Traffic Charity Trust. The charity was set
up in 1997 and raises money to send children who have lost close relatives in
road accidents on special holidays to Disneyland Paris. By raising at least
£8000 per year, the charity can allow for a surviving parent or carer to
accompany each child. It is hoped that
the T-shirt will raise thousands of pounds for the charity.
The
auction will continue until 31st December 2001, when at noon the
T-shirt will be sold to the highest bidder. To take part, visit www.ttcharitytrust.org.uk and

The Petition.
It
was reported last week that Jarno Trulli has signed a petition which appears to
call for an end to the war in Afghanistan. The petition was initiated by
Italian footballer Damiano Tommasi and was signed by more than 240 Italian or
Italian-based sportsmen and women. The appeal was published in Italian
newspapers in support of the humanitarian aid group, Emergency.
It
seems that something has been lost in translation and the intention of the
petitioners has been mis-represented. Jarno would like to make it clear that he
is not against the war in Afghanistan. He completely supports the war against
terrorism, and although he believes we should all strive to achieve the ideal
of peace, he understands that , as in this case, sometimes we have to fight for
it.
